About Us

The island of Mattiti is a tropical island located in the warm waters of the Pacific. The island is about 500 square miles. The island is microcosm of different types of terrains from our mountainous highlands to the beautiful white sand beaches.

We have excellent weather all year round. We have an abundance of fishing and other natural resources that make the island an exquisite place to visit. We have harbor and beautiful bays where you can snorkel and other activities in peace and calm.



Transportation


The island is easy to get to from the mainland United States. You can arrive via plane or by a small cruise ship that docks in Yellow Leaf bay once a week. You can also arrive by small plane via our small airport.

Getting Around On the Island

The island offers public bus serive between 5AM and 11PM every day. These buses are available in Mattiti City. The rest of the island is serviced by private bus services. Also, avail in the city are numerous taxis to take you where you need to go. If you would like you have the opportunity to rent a car. The island offers an excellent opportunity to bike. Traffic is almost non-existent and we have bike rentals available. Often the most enjoyable way to get around the island and the city is by walking. The island is fairly flat and should be easy to walk for most people.

Do Mattitians speak English?

Yes, many of the younger generation speak fluent english. Also, if you are in need of medical help many of the island's medical staff speak english as well as other languages.


What currency do you use?

The local currency is the U.S. dollar. If you are coming from the United States you do not need to exchange your currency.


I plan on bringing my cell phone. Do I need a special charger to charge my phone?

No, there will be no need for any additional chargers. The island uses the same voltage of the United States (120 volts). Saves a little space in the luggage!


I am 18. Will I be able to drink on the island?

Yes, the drinking age on the island is 18. Please refer to our Dining page for options Click here Pleae note that alcohol cannot be sold between the hours of midnight and 9:00 AM. Sorry.


Are medical services available on the island?

Yes, there is one major hospital and a few clinics to address your medical concerns.


Is there a lot of crime on the island?

No, major or violent crime is very rare. But as with any travel destiniation a vistor should be always a little cautious
